Dock & Ramp Policy
1. Only Community Members in good standing will be allowed a dock space and boat ramp privileges.
2. Dock space will not be allocated to members whom do not own a boat.
3. Community Members that acquire a dock space will not be permitted to rent-out or allow others outside of the BSPOA to use their dock space.
4. Community members obtaining boat ramp access will not be permitted to allow others outside of the BSPOA boat ramp access.
5. A Community Member contravening # 3 and # 4 above, may result in immediate suspension of dock and ramp privileges along with forfeiture of fees.
6. In addition to # 3, allowing visitors staying at your home, access to the boat ramp and visitor dock space or your own dock space during their visit, is permissible.
7. Docks are assigned based on seniority, availability, type of boat and timely payment of dock fees. If member has not paid the required fee by February 28th of the current dock year, any dock space held by that member in the previous season is considered to be available.
8. Dock fees are not refundable.
9. For docking that commences on or after August 1st, (if a space is available), the dock fee will be 50% of the annual dock fee.
10. The dock chairperson has the authority to reassign dock spaces based on the best dock for the vessel in question. In the event of relocating one or more vessels, the dock chairperson must review the required move with all parties involved prior to completing the reassignment of docks. If a disagreement arises from the reassignment, the Board of Directors will be called upon to make a final decision.
11. Boat size is to be limited to 1) 27 feet and/or 2) 5500 lbs dry weight. To the best of his/her ability, the dock chairperson must take into consideration the water depth in late August and the ability of the docking structure to maintain all boats safely under normal summer storm conditions when allowing dock spaces.
12. Dock Fees, as recommended by the Board in the proposed budget, are approved by the membership at the Annual General Meeting each fall. The fee structure for the current boating season is outlined on the dock application. Dock fees are due no later than February 28th.
13. Members are required to complete a Dock Application. This form consists of: a) application for dock space/ transfer request; b) Disclaimer releasing Buckhorn Sands Property Owners Association, and its Directors, from any and all liabilities; c) receipt and agreement of these policy/rules.
14. All boats must be removed from the docks no later than Sunday of the Thanksgiving Weekend each year to allow for dock removal. If your boat is not removed by this time and hinders the dock removal process you will be assessed a fee of $100.00 and not be allowed to renew dock space until fee paid.
Boat Ramp Policy
1. All Community Members will receive the password.
2. Community members obtaining boat ramp access will not be permitted to allow others outside of the BSPOA boat ramp access.
3. A Community Member contravening #2 above, may result in immediate suspension of ramp privileges.
4. In addition to # 2, allowing visitors at your home, access to the boat ramp during their visit is permissible
5. All Community Members are required to ensure Boat Ramp is locked after each use.
