Buckhorn Sands is a community of 110 homes on the shores of Upper Buckhorn Lake on the Trent-Severn Waterway. It can be accessed from Curve Lake Road on the south and 17th line on the north. There are four lovely parks, owned and maintained by the Buckhorn Sands Property Owners Association. These parks are for the use of the members and their guests. Two of the parks, Acorn and Cedar, can be used for swimming. The other two parks, Birch and Driftwood, have docks for the use of members and their guests. Driftwood Park has a boat ramp with access for members only. The parks have picnic tables and benches. Each ‘rural estate lot’ has deeded water access. There are several undeveloped land blocks owned by the Association. The community is well-treed with lots of wildlife (deer, wild turkeys, loons, herons, etc.). From our lake, there is unlocked access to five lakes….unique in the Kawarthas!
The Township of Selwyn maintains the paved roads, the school buses, fire services, trash and recycling pick-up, and snow plowing in the winter.
Buckhorn Sands is 6 minutes by car from the town of Buckhorn, 20 minutes from Lakefield and Bridgenorth and 30 minutes from Peterborough. The Buckhorn Community Centre provides social and recreational activities for the area. It also has an outdoor ice skating pad in the winter. A snowmobiling club is only 7 minutes away.
